Happy June.

To support you in being F.I.R.S.T. (Future-Ready. Innovative. Relevant. Strategic. Trusted.), here's 1 tip and 1 quote.

1. The F.I.R.S.T. Tip

As we reach the midpoint of the year, conducting a personal mid-year review helps you to get clarity about your life and keeps you on track with your personal goals for the rest of the year.

Here are 3 simple steps for an effective review:

Step 1: Make a list of everything you feel proud of in the last six months

Reflect on what you have achieved since the start of the year, both professionally and personally. This can be of any nature or significance. Celebrate your success…even the small wins. Feeling proud of successfully completing a big project may be on this list, along with feeling proud that you brisked walked at least three times a week or restored a relationship with a loved one.

Step 2: List the goals you have taken on from the start of the year, and the progress you have made on each

Many of us make New Year’s Resolutions and start the year with goals. Review your goals and evaluate your progress. When you find goals that are no longer serving you or aren’t relevant any more, this is a great time to make adjustments.

As well as looking at your goals individually, take a broad view of your life: Do you feel overwhelmed and need to restore more balance into your life?

Step 3: Select two areas of your life you would like to focus on in the next six months

Our lives can be broadly divided into the following areas: Health, Career, Finance, Family, Relationships, Personal Development, Leisure/Fun, Physical Environment.

Think about how satisfied you are with this aspect of your life right now. You can rate it on a scale of 1 to 10.

Next, pick two areas of your life you want to focus on, and identify the smallest action you can take to shift the rating up one notch. For example, you may decide to schedule 15 mins every morning to plan the day, have 1-on-1 conversations with your direct reports every fortnight, or have dinner with the family three times a week.

Small actions are easy to act on and repeat. Momentum creates progress.

This personal mid-year review gives you the opportunity to reflect, refocus and realign your efforts to achieve what you want in life.  As you walk through this journey, don’t forget to acknowledge your achievements, even the small wins and embrace a growth mindset that welcomes challenges and remains open to new possibilities.

Tip: A personal mid-year review helps you stay in balance and achieve success.
